Thanks for joining the facebook group!

Below are a few steps that you will need to take before you can qualify for work.  Please do not offer to take work offers if you have not registered in yardbook yet, as we will not be able to assign to you and will have to assign before you can use the timeclock.

Step 1: Get Acquainted with Yardbook

Everything that isn't direct labor is operated, tracked, billed, and paid out through Yardbook.com

It offers the company scheduling and routing, and it offers ALC Workers an easy-to-use timeclock, and online access to job instructions.

This allows us to offer competitive rates with a higher technical profit margin - because we don't need to have an office this way.  Higher Profits mean You Make More! PLUS when You mark your jobs as Complete, the clients (can opt in to) get and auto-email advising them the work is complete!
This is also where you will take before and after photos, complete check lists, take notes on important things you might notice, and advise ALC Agents about other work that may be desired! Upselling equals more work equals more money in your pocket!

step 2: Done! Just keep an eye on facebook!

How to work

Answer: As though they are watching you work out of their windows
This is silly of course, but sadly many people continue to work while exhausted, or do not pick up garbage they dropped, or are working very slowly. If the customer sees this, they will question the amount that is paid out - especially if the job takes longer than anticipated.  If you're tired, take a breather. But make sure you're drinking water, dehydration is a serious productivity killer.

Service Standards:

Lawn Mowing

  1. Pushing a mower covers the space, always start in the back if it is a 2-man team.  Always start by mowing a close perimeter to the section you are about to mow.
    1. if the mower blade spins clockwise, always keep the edge of the lawn to your left. and vice versa
    2. When your line comes near a tree, do a full circle around it the first time - then on each return pass go around the far side from where you started the loop. It gives a better chance to look like straight uninterrupted lines.
  2. Trimming: start around trees and mid-lawn obstacles, then the entire perimeter of the lawn. Minimum width must be 6 inches.
    1. Always try to stand on the lawn, strafe-walking or slightly walking backward so the clippings are spit into the yard and you are pulling the trimmer line along with you.
    2. If weeds or out-growing grass are noticed, pull and toss onto an un-cut portion of lawn for the mower to pick up. Try to remove clumps of soil from roots whenever possible.
  3. Edging is performed after trimming, where pavement meets lawn. (sidewalks, driveways etc). Never along bed edges. This is done after trimming, and is the first thing blown into the lawn.
  4. Blower is also Quality Control. Blow clippings from all walkways and steps, and do a full walk-through of the lawn as well.
    1. Blow any clumps of grass remaining on the lawn - and point out missed areas to the mower.
    2. Lower any drain spouts, close any gates/doorways.  These are serious requirements that are the Blower's job.
Mowers are weighted in the rear to give healthy grass a striped pattern. We must be mindful of these lines, as the pattern is part of the prestige that a satisfied customer expects.

Trimming isn't just to get where the mower can't - it's to make the mower's job easier. cutting wider in the corners helps the mower stay on a smooth uninterrupted course

Clippings come with us unless requested. Always blow out equipment and double-check the street before driving away. We don't want to leave a trail.

Dump mower bags into wheeled bins to bring to the truck - NEVER continue to mow if the bag is full.
